Stacey McKenzie Walk This Way Workshop

I haven't been in the entertainment industry that long and still I would love to go back in time to give a younger version of myself advice based on the everything I've learned. Since I have yet to find that wormhole, the best I can do is pay those lessons forward. That's one of the goals of Empirella.com and it is shared by Canadian supermodel Stacey McKenzie, whose Walk This Way workshops are designed to offer valuable insight to young people hoping to break into entertainment.
“Originally, I started my Walk This Way workshops to help aspiring models like the ones I met while I was pursuing my modeling career,” Stacey explained. “I decided if I got an opportunity to make it in the business I was going to give back my expertise to help others.”
Now that her workshops have expanded to respond to the needs of aspiring models, actors, hosts and producers, the roster of Walk This Way speakers has also expanded. Tomorrow's session (get tickets here) welcomes Glen Baxter (host of CTV's In Fashion), Pat McDonaugh (fashion designer), Iain Christiansen (Director of Talent & PR for Epitome Pictures), Kandyse McClurre (actor), Carolyn Rohaly (CBC Talent Manager), Wesley Bandajak (fashion designer – LOVAS) and Janice Perkins (President at Reinhart-Perkins INC). I've also been invited to speak on the digital and personal brand front, based on my work as a TV and digital host/producer.
“I chose these speakers not only because they are experts in their field,” Stacey explained, “but also because I find them to be an inspiring group of individuals that are sure to motivate and inspire others and help them get closer to their entertainment industry goals.”
Here at Empirella, we've always found Stacey quite inspiring herself. We love her stories of early struggle and rejection as an unconventional model, followed by the triumphant tale of being selected by Jean Paul Gaultier for fashion fame. What would have happened if she hadn't spent the five years it took her to first get a modelling agent? What regrets does she have about being taken advantage by business managers? All this and more – plus tales from the rest of us – this Saturday, July 14th, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the SpringHill Suites by Marriot in Toronto. GET TICKETS HERE.
