It's the easy, no-commitment way to get the hottest hair hues.
Our friend, publicity maven Jane Collins, offered up a simple answer to Amanda's longtime wish to have cool grey hair: try hair chalking. It's the super simple and washable way to try the pinks, blues and purples that models and celebs are sporting these days.
Jane had already done the research and pointed us in the direction of Lauren Conrad's beauty blog, The Beauty Department, for the best article on hair chalking. As recommended, we picked up some Sennelier soft pastels at Above Ground Art Supplies in Toronto for about $5 each and went arts and crafts on ourselves. The colour goes on easy, stays on – even overnight – and washes out completely. So, chalk away. But check out these photos for application inspiration. These looks can go awry very easily if over – or under – done.
A quick caveat: one of the guys we work with went on a tirade about how much he hates coloured hair streaks on women, so this may not be a hit with the BF. But we say you embrace your inner Man Repeller and have fun – if only for one shower cycle.
