SJP Shows and Tells About Work and Family for the August Issue of Vogue

To promote her new movie, I Don’t Know How She Does It, Sarah Jessica Parker did the cover story for the August issue of American Vogue.

She’s done many fabulous Vogue cover shoots before (check her out Throughout the Years in Vogue) but this one by Mario Testino – where she stars as the do-it-all heroine in the home she shares with husband Matthew Broderick and their three children, James Wilkie and twins Tabitha and Loretta – is our favorite, of course. Here’s an excerpt:

“Like a ship avoiding icebergs” is how she cheerfully describes the running of her life. “The internal lists, the children’s doctor’s appointments, the letters to write, the school projects. . . .” At night she lies in bed and does what she calls every mom’s “strategic planning” for the day ahead: “What you have to do and how to get the kids from A to B, and whatever is required of you at your work. And maybe you can toss in friendships that need to be attended to. . . . The thing that’s most surprising to me is how much we do in a day.”

Although she claims to keep a “pretty simple setup” at home with no live-in help, we know she’s still working with quite a bit more than most of us (including a nanny for the twins and a surrogate to have them in the first place). But look at what she accomplishes – movies, production, being a brand ambassador, her own product line and a busy family life with young children at aged 46 – and how damn good she looks doing it.

The August issue of Vogue is on newsstands now and you can also read the full article here.
