Celebrating Diana on Her 50th Birthday

Diana at 50 in the news

Diana at 50 by NewsweekToday also marks what would have been the 50th birthday of Princess Diana, born July 1st, 1961.

The biggest Diana news this week swirled around  Tina Brown’s Newsweek piece “Diana at 50“, in which the editor-in-chief of both Newsweek and The Daily Beast and author of The Diana Chronicles, a 2007 biography of the late Princess of Wales, answered the question “what would she have been like” today? The tribute story comes complete with the enhanced photos, featured above left and immediately left, by R. Mutt Studios.

“Fashionwise, Diana would have gone the J.Crew and Galliano route à la Michelle Obama,” Brown writes, “always knowing how to mix the casual with the glam. There is no doubt she would have kept her chin taut with strategic Botox shots and her bare arms buff from the gym. Remarriage? At least two, I suspect, on both sides of the Atlantic.”

“Diana, rejoicing in her flawless Spencer pedigree, would have positioned herself as a firm defender of the Middletons against the palace snobs and ostentatiously made Carole Middleton, Kate’s dynamic mother, her new BFF.”

“ ‘Don’t worry, Mummy,’ 14-year-old William told his mother when he learned that she’d been stripped of her HRH at the time of the divorce. ‘I will give it back to you one day when I am king.’ In many ways he already has.”

The digitally altered images were vehemently criticized, particularly on Twitter, for being in poor taste. Brown released a statement this week saying, “We wanted to bring the memory of Diana alive in a vivid image that transcends time and reflects my piece.”

We think it was a cool, thoughtful and appropriately thought-provoking tribute to Diana – one that was well-deserved this week. We love to think what William and Kate’s visit to Ottawa for Canada Day today would have been with Diana alongside them on her 50th.

Good job, Tina Brown.

Thanks for the writeup. I definitely agree with what you are saying. I have been talking about this subject a lot lately with my father so hopefully this will get him to see my point of view. Fingers crossed!

Cassius Clay-based and referee Add Asbury view carefully as LaMar Clark sinks for the fabric for that next period in the 1st rounded of final night’s heavyweight struggle from Flexibility Area. Your knockdown was included with 5 just a few seconds left in the round. Clay surfaces then required yet another moment and also Twenty-seven just a few seconds to realize any ko in the next round from the slated eight-rounder.

Just how NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell talked about membership owners’ overwhelming authorization of the tentative decade-long deal to finish the actual lockout, he may also are already ranting, Are you ready for a few football? Not too quickly, enthusiasts. Your deal’s dirty but.
