Hello Canada’s Larry King Interview

What it takes to impress him and why he thinks Piers Morgan is just OK. This week’s issue of Hello! Canada (No 218, 30 May 2011) features an 11-page spread and interview with TV legend Larry King. The shots of his Beverly Hills mansion make you want to work hard to get rich, but he reminds us in the interview:

I never thought about being famous. I just thought about being on the air. Fame was a result of what I did, not the goal for what I did. Money was never a goal. Money was a byproduct of what I did. For example, let’s say I’m making $4 million a year, and someone would have come to me and asked, “Do you want to be in charge of the whole network and make $20 million a year?” I wouldn’t have done it. Because all I wanted I had: a microphone.

To his CNN successor, Piers Morgan, he gives the advice: “allow your guest to finish the answer, and keep yourself out of the context of the interview. Let your guest be the star.”

He’s no model, as the photos will reveal, but he’s a straight-shooting living legend with good advice, amazing stories and an always-compelling point of view. Definitely worth picking up, the issue also includes a piece on the meaning of Will and Kate’s new titles and lots more Royal Wedding insider info.
